Olga Sting with SASL, the great language school I have written about before, just sent me the following article from the Surrentum Magazine in Sorrento, Italy. SASL participated in a conference Sorrento Lingue hosted with members of many of the local towns and groups promoting Sorrento and the peninsula. Think of your next Italian Adventure as an opportunity to learn the language and some of the traditions of Italia. http://sorrentolingue.com
On May 21th 2012, Sant’Anna Institute-Sorrento Lingue (SASL), based in Sorrento, hosted
a round table (sponsored by the Sorrento town hall) with 18 students and 4 faculty members
from Point Park University’s School of Communication (Pittsburgh, USA).
SASL President, Cristiana Panicco, introduced the round table and the speakers including
Mr. Gaetano Milano (Sorrento Tourism Councilor), Roberto Amuro (President of “Amalfi Coast”),
Antonino Siniscalchi (Director of “Surrentum”), Michele Cinque (Founder of the online newspaper
“Positano News”) and Fabio Colucci (“Sorrento City Train Tour”).
The Round Table analyzed the online communication and web marketing strategies used by the Sorrento town hall, the Tourist Board of Sorrento, and local newspapers, magazines, radio and TV networks, in order to promote Sorrento and its peninsula as a significant tourist destination worldwide.
The goal of the round table was to present the initiatives that are undertaken in the Peninsula for tourism promotion; it also represented an enriching moment of exchange of opinions and experiences with American students specialized in communication. The event is part of the activities organized by SASL within its Study Abroad accredited programs (summer and semester), for students coming from several American universities.
Watch for future events brought to us by : SASL Sant’Anna

Think of joining one of their programs on your next adventure to Italia!

Is travel sometimes exhausting, trying to see everything in a short amount of time? Why not spend some of your adventure living in Puglia and enjoying a yoga retreat? See what Yle has created for you.......

IN PUGLIA
A wonderful natural setting to relax and restore
...Take space and time to unwind and recharge in Puglia ....
September and October 2012
For info: yltour.com

Salento, in Puglia, is the hidden treasure
of southern Italy with its coastline and small fishing villages of a predominant
baroque and country chic style, combining gentle hills and farmlands, white
walled medieval towns each with its culinary specialties.
If
you love Italy and the genuine, simple atmosphere of the south, a yoga holiday
in Salento can be the right place for you, combining yoga with cooking classes,
wine tasting, photography, painting and enjoying all the beautiful things
Puglia has to offer daily.
Yoga classes take place in some very inspiring
locations as well as relaxation sessions. Known as the land of simplicity,
Puglia can truly surprise you with her beauty and sense of life. This is the
ideal vacation and destination for those of you looking for natural beauty,
transformative yoga, good company and a place to be simply yourself.
The
morning session will allow you to connect with the surrounding and dive deep
into yourself, from the flow of your breath to the practise of postures that cultivate
core strength and steadiness to the body until you feel stronger and
more confident.

Do you take fewer trips so that you can go first class?
Would one trip at first class hotels and good restaurants be better than taking MORE or LONGER trips and spending much less on hotels and food?
An interesting comparison. What do you think?

Travel Solo
Why do Americans travel as if they were on the ark?
Does anyone except the most fearless, go off on their own and expericence the world, life?
This begins a series of stories about two adventures:
solo trip across the Atlantic for 21 days with 2,500 "new friends"
and a life adventure (no longer do I travel on vacations) in 2008 when I traveled to Sorrento, Italy to rent an apartment in town and live as an Italian!
Solo travel, not single travel is freeing! There is nothing like the experience of knowing you can do what ever you want. No worry that your companion does not care to walk to the top of the tower, eat whenever you wish, sit and read all afternoon in the piazza if you find the urge, I can go on and on.
When i returned I found my life, attitude and future had changed. I no longer had worry line, lost sleep in fear of my next appointment, and most of all I discovered I was happy!
You may think this is odd but working 24/7 for the past 20 years I never took time to just be.
Time to think, reflect, expand ideas. It is amazing what the mind can create when it is given space.
What I discovered about solo travel will be posted soon.
Ciao bella!
